Diets
So many people are frustrated with their weight these days. And it's not for lack of trying to lose it. Some people fail with 2 or 3 diets before they finally give up and try to learn to live with their excess pounds. Why does this happen, why do diets fail? In this article I'll relate some of the most common reasons for this.
1. You're using a low-something diet - Many of the diets on the market today are deprivation diets, or what I call low-something diets. You have low fat diets, or low carbs, or even no fat or no protein diets. Every once in a while someone comes out with a new deprivation method and tries to sell it to you. These deprivation diets often fail because they deprive your body of a necessary nutrient like carbs, protein, or even fat. This throws the body into an unstable state which may prevent you from losing weight.
2. You're eating too little - Yes. that's right, eating too little can cause your diet to fail. Why is this bad? It's bad because eating too little can cause your metabolism to slow down. What this causes is that you may lose weight in the beginning of the diet when your metabolism is high, but as you keep going on the diet and your metabolism slows, you find it harder and harder to lose weight, and may even gain it back in the end. You should eat a reasonable amount of calories and never go for starvation diets.
3. The diet doesn't fit in with your lifestyle - certain diets are just not for everyone. If your diet requires you to go to the gym in order to workout each day and you're a very busy person, there's no way it'll work for you. If your diet requires you to cook strange dishes, and you don't know how, then this diet will surely fail for you. Choose a diet which fits into your lifestyle.
4. The diet demands strange ingredients - certain diets call for using all kinds of strange and exotic herbs and ingredients that you need to get in special stores. I don't like these diets for 2 reasons: first, they become expensive, second, they're a hassle. What will happen is that you will find it hard to keep getting these ingredients and using them so that the diet will fail for you. Don't go for any of these things. You can get a great diet which is based on normal, easy to get food.
5. Outside reasons - Often, diets fail due to outside factors. These are things which are going on in your life, have nothing to do with your nutrition but can still determine whether your diet will be a success or a failure. These things include lack of sleep, stress levels, the support you're getting from your family and friends, and more. Overall, try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and try to enjoy yourself as much as possible. Being in a good mood can help you to lose weight.
I hope you found this article useful. The next time you start a diet, try to make sure that it won't trigger any of these 5 common reason why diets fail. Also, remember to have faith in yourself. You can lose weight. I'm sure of it.

Choosing Alkaline Diets Is The Only Way To Live A Healthy Lifestyle (Diets)
Diets
The low carbohydrate and high protein diets doing the rounds these days are an invitation to bad health. All athletes know that if a fit body is to be maintained one should steer completely clear of such diets. Not only do they result in extreme fatigue but also are a disaster where weight management is concerned. Choosing alkaline diets is the only way to live a healthy life as well as shed those extra pounds.
Alkaline diets require one to follow a life style completely opposite of the high protein low carb diets. The high protein diets leave the person following it fatigued and tired. It is for those who lead a stagnant life and want to shed some weight. But the weight that is lost comes back on as soon as one stops the diet. With alkaline diets this is not the case. The diets can be incorporated into ones way of life and within days the results start to show. Alkaline diets require one to eat about 80 % alkalizing foods so as to maintain the alkaline ph of the body to 7.4. High protein diets tend to make the ph of the body acidic as opposed to its natural alkaline tilt. When the body ph becomes acidic it attracts all illnesses and depletes one of energy. An acidic ph also results in rapid degeneration of the human body cells. That leads to a shortened life. One should stay away from these crash diets and look at achieving health and vigor by following alkaline diets instead.
Alkaline diets lead to the body ph maintaining its alkaline nature. The various body functions are carried out smoothly and the immune system of the body stays strong. Under these circumstances one feels energetic as opposed to feeling fatigued. Also the weight shed like this stays off and most importantly the body does not fall sick. In other words alkaline diets help repel diseases as opposed to high protein diets which seem to attract them. Alkaline diets are also very good for those suffering from chronic diseases like arthritis, cancer, migraines, sinusitis and also osteoporosis. Following alkaline diets while taking medication helps fight these diseases off from the root.
Alkaline diets constitute mostly of fruits and vegetables. One should try and consume green vegetables and sweet fruits so that they make up about 70 to 80 percent of their total food intake. Lemons and melons should also be eaten. Almonds, honey, and olive oil are also high on the list of foods to be consumed for following alkaline diets. Meats and fats should be avoided. All foods that are acidifying like coffee, alcohol, meats, and even certain vegetables like cooked spinach should not form more than 20% of ones diet. Alkaline water is also a must or those who want to follow alkaline diets. At least 6 to 8 glasses of alkaline water can do wonders for your body cleansing. Processed food is all acidic and also high on weight gaining substances and so should be avoided. Beverages like sodas are highly acidic and should not be consumed at all. It takes 32 glasses of water to balance out one glass of soda.
Alkaline diets are for everyone. Each one of us should stop abusing our bodies and look at a healthy and long life by making alkaline diets a part of our life style.

Easy Diets - Not a Fake (Diets)
Diets
Their are hundreds, maybe a few thousand easy diets available. You can find more than 260,000 entries in Google's search engine if you type in the keyword phrase "easy diets". They are often crap if you are looking for easy diets.
Many individuals are trying to diet while improving the quality of their diets for better health. A great diet is one that will be a blueprint for you, to last a lifetime. If your wish is to find an easy diet that works for you, then you will have to do some homework to find something that is the right fit for you. Or you go to information sites with reviews included! The Sites are given.
There are several online resources that offer information about dieting and maintaining a healthy body. Using the right combination of nutrients and the right proteins, carbohydrates and fats will go a long way in losing excess weight, maybe easy diets sites or something.
To lose weight and keep the weight off, you will be required to make some changes in the way you have been eating. You must reduce your caloric intake and burn the calories that you take in. You must work off these calories by causing your body's metabolism to jump up a few notches.
Some easy diets, with the proper combination of foods, will boost your body's metabolism, yet you still must work off some of the calories and help jump start the metabolism by exercise.
Pay attention to the "Big 3". Chose lower fat foods, eat more vegetables and start reading the labels of the foods you buy at the market. Learn what the labels say. These labels have all of the nutritional information you need to know in order to make buying decisions that are based on what is right for you to eat. This could help to make easy diets. The easiest diets you really need to follow are the ones that work for you and give you the proper nutrients your body needs. With that said, you will need to learn what foods work in harmony to help you lose weight.
There are many easy diet recipes online that you can try. Look them over and try a few. There are also many different diet programs that promise to be easy. Some of these easy diets might help you lose weight, yet they will not be giving your body what it needs to sustain itself at a healthy level.
By taking some time to understand how the body burns fat and maintains at a healthy level, you will be in a position to look at easy diets and discern if this is going to be a healthy diet for you to follow.
Dietary studies have shown that the easiest diets to follow are those that have a combination of several different food groups that do not drastically eliminate the foods you love. It is the reduction of the empty calories and the fatty foods that help to eliminate body fat.
The easiest diets that do not work very well are the "spot diets". It is the fad diets, usually used for a week or two that help you lose weight quickly. These types of diets do not usually pay attention to what nutrients are being depleted in the body. Some of these quick and easy diets can be dangerous to your health, so easy diets could be dangerous but easy diets maybe good for your mind to start weight loss.

Why Diets Don't Work (Diets )
Diets
Another failed diets. More money wasted on diets books that fail to deliver results. Here's the secret that they don't want you to know:
Diets don't work!
Think about it. Consider the big business around exercise videos, diets videos, diets books, TV shows. It's a money game. Let's face it the only people achieving results out of the current billion dollar weight loss industry are the moguls who want your hard earned cash. That isn't to say these products are intentionally deceiving you - it's just that they are not tackling the root problem. In order to help you understand how you can achieve real weight loss objectives, you need to first understand why existing products so often fail.
Here are some reasons why diets don't work:
Diets address the wrong problem
Diets work by identifying the source of the problem as food itself. They therefore avoid certain types of food, or encourage particular combinations of food or recommend and increase in intake of a particular type of food. The truth is food itself is not inherently bad. Actually, it's OK to eat any type of food as long as you are aware and knowledgeable about that food. Let's give an example. Chocolate cake is quite harmless if you eat one slice every 6 months, but if you ate it three times a day you would have a problem. So it follows the problem is not with food itself but with the person making the choice to eat a particular food at a particular time, in other words diets address the wrong problem! The source of the problem is not the food itself.
Diets are impractical
Most diets are too complex to understand or maintain over a period of time. They are just not practical. There are all kinds of diets out there - probably hundreds of them. However, so many of them rely on complicated worksheets, colour coded charts and long food lists. In the real world people don't have the time or patience to deal with this. Can you see people arriving at a dinner party and then getting out their food list and checking things off and being fussy about what they can and can't eat. It's just not going to happen.
Diets are not long term
Mostly people have the idea that they "go on a diets", then when they have lost weight they are somehow "fixed" and they come off the diets. As soon as they come off the diets they go back to old habits and gain weight.
Diets work by deprivation
Most diets work by denying you food. Unfortunately this makes you even hungrier, which results in your eating more food! Crazy. Food deprivation is definitely not the way to go and is generally not a long term solution. The body will tend to counteract any food deprivation by storing more energy as fat!
Diets often rely on counting calories
Counting calories is often inconvenient. To do it accurately, you would need to weigh all the foods used in every meal, and then use some kind of table to work out the total calorific intake. This is not something that is going to be kept up long term by most busy people. Also, what happens when you eat out? It would be quite difficult to determine the calorific content of takeaway or restaurant meals. While it is useful to have a rough idea of the calorific value of various foods, religiously counting calories is unlikely to be practical over the long term.
Diets are all or nothing
Most diets are things that you are either on or you are not on. How many times have you said "I'll start my diets tomorrow"! In this scenario someone goes from a non-diets state to a diets state overnight. This "overnight change" approach doesn't work. You wouldn't go to the gym and start lifting the heaviest weights first - you will build up gradually. Diets tend not to take the phased approach, this is a big mistake.
Diets fail to integrate with people's everyday lives
One problem with diets is they often require "special" meals. When you are a busy housewife and mum of two you just don't get time to prepare special meals. Everyone tends to end up eating the same thing and that is often cooked with convenience in mind, not weight loss! The idea of preparing a special meal for yourself and then another meal for your husband would be too time consuming. Unless the whole family is on the same diets, creating a special meal may not be practical.
Diets are often too prescriptive
Diets tend to dictate the types of food you can eat. It tends to be a "don't eat that" and "do eat this" approach. If it's not on the list you can't eat it! Diets so designed often fail in an important way - they fail to educate people about eating habits and the fundamental nature of food types. As a simple example of this, a person might come across a type of fruit. The person might not be able to decide whether they can eat this fruit or not as it is not specified by the diets food list. They don't have sufficient knowledge of food to make the decision for themselves can I eat this or not.
So, these are just a few of the problems with diets. By helping you to understand the problems of diets it is possible to come up with a plan to find a weight loss programme that will work - without making the mistakes that diets so often do.

Best Fad Diets (Diets)
Diets
What are the best fad diets? It's a question I'm often asked. Unfortunately, I'm not really in favor of fad diets, so it's a difficult one to answer.
It's not that I'm against all fad diets on principle. But if there's one message I'd like you to take away from my website, Obesity Cures.com, it's that there's no silver bullet. No one shot cure ... no best fad diets.
That's the message I hope you take away from this article.
Your ideal weight loss solution should comprise a basket of cures, each chosen to suit your specific needs. A diet, fad or not, may be one ingredient of that basket. But one size does not fit all.
However, if you are going to choose a fad diet as part of your weightloss basket, you should at least be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of each.
In this article, I'll outline some of the main categories of fad diets and some of the pros and cons of each.
High-Fat, Low-Carbohydrate Diets
Millions of Americans have joined the low-carb craze and started high-fat, low-carb diets such as the Atkins Diet and the Zone Diet. They are made up of about 60% fat, 10% carbohydrate, and 30% protein.
These fad diets say you can eat high amounts of fat and protein while getting very low amounts of carbohydrates in the form of vegetables.
The main premise of the low-carb diet is that a diet low in carbohydrates leads to a reduction in body’s production of insulin.
The end result is that fat and protein stores will be used for energy. So you stuff yourself full of unlimited amounts of meat, cheese, and butter, and only eat a small portion of carbohydrates.
But here's the catch...
People who start the diet usually lose a great amount of weight, but it’s not permanent weight loss. Instead of burning fat, they lose water and precious muscle tissue.
Furthermore, these diets are low in several nutrients and contain excess amounts of cholesterol and saturated fats, substances that increase the risk of heart disease.
Plus, regardless of what they claim, the enormous amounts of protein put a strain on your kidneys.
Not exactly a promising contender for the best fad diets title!
Moderate Fat Diets
Next, there are the moderate fat diets. Moderate fat diets include diets like Weight Watchers, the USDA Food Guide Pyramid, Herbalife and Jenny Craig.
These diets are made up of about 25% fat, 60% carbohydrate, and 15% protein. They encourage the intake of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and essential fatty acids found in foods like olive oil and salmon.
These diets are usually nutritionally balanced if the dieter eats a variety of foods from all categories. For example, Weight Watchers operates on a point system where foods get a number of points based on calorie, fiber, and fat content.
Dieters get a specific number of points they can use for the day. While it’s not encouraged, they may choose to spend most of their points on carbohydrates instead of balancing it out. This could lead to deficiencies in nutrients such as calcium, iron, and zinc.
Herbalife counters this shortcoming with a range of nutritional shakes and vitamin products.
If followed properly (and backed by judicious supplementation), these diets are probably the most successful for losing weight and keeping it off... A possible contender for the best fad diets title.
Low and Very Low-Fat Diets
Finally, you have your low-fat and very low-fat diets. Fad diets in this category include the Dr. Dean Ornish’s Diet and the Pritkin Plan, among others. They are made up of about 13% fat, 70% carbohydrates, and 16% protein.
These diets are mostly vegetarian diets and don’t recommend eating a lot of meat. Like the low-carb diets, you can eat unlimited amounts of certain foods. Because you can’t eat a lot of meat, these diets are deficient in zinc, vitamin B12, and essential fatty acids.
Also, it is so restrictive that people find a hard time staying on it for life and end up gaining their weight back.

Diets - Who Are The Losers?
Diets
The problem with most diets is they're too specific to fit our lives. However, despite the promise of dramatic weight loss offered by them, the success of crash diets is largely non-existent. The assertion by the inventors of fad low-carb diets is that it is the low-fat diet that is responsible for overall weight gain and the rise in obesity. In a nutshell, one thing that you need to know about fad diets is that the positives are outweighed by the negatives. So, my suggestion is before spending money on all those diets, sit and talk to yourself and decide if you are willing to stick to a plan, and go through it.
The resurgence of high-protein diets is based primarily on the misconception that carbohydrates alone induce weight gain. One major part of these diets is not allowing proteins to mix with carbohydrates. The major claim behind most high-protein diets is that insulin (a hormone that regulates blood sugar), not calories, makes you fat. The nitrogen in high protein diets is a burden on the kidneys and liver. One of the most important reasons for the popularity of high protein diets is they work as people lose lots of weight fast but it's mostly water. Frankly, most weight loss plans are about money and there is a lot of money in the weight loss industry, hence the incentive to come up with easy diets is therefore huge.
As being over-weight becomes an issue for more and more people, the demand for proper, nutritionally balanced and clinically proven diets is on the rise. The end result of all the diets is that none of them fits everyone. One problem with a lot of weight loss plans is they're hard to stay on for long periods of time. There is really no end in sight because as the income and the average caloric intake of developing country populations increase, obesity is the end result as a relative shift in diets is taking place.
The long term safety of most of these diets is unknown. The end result of all the diets is that none of them fits everyone as I said before and bear in mind that the initial weight loss from low-carb diets is water weight. Losing weight is relatively easy with many "fad" diets; maintaining the loss with these diets is difficult and largely impossible to sustain.
